Refund & Cancellation Policy

Donations made to the St. Germain's Alumni Association (SGAA) through this portal are voluntary contributions to the fund of the donor's choice. Funds are committed to that purpose promptly, and donations are therefore generally non-refundable.
SGAA will, however, consider refund requests in the limited circumstances set out below.
1. When a refund will be considered
- Duplicate transaction — your bank or card statement shows the same intended donation has been debited more than once.
- Incorrect amount due to a clear technical error on this portal or the payment gateway (e.g. an amount different from what you selected).
- Unauthorised transaction on your card or bank account. In addition to writing to us, please raise a chargeback with your bank or card issuer.
- Non-delivery of receipt after seven (7) working days, where the gateway confirms the payment but no receipt has been received and re-issue requests have not resolved the matter.
2. When a refund will not be considered
- Change of mind after a successful donation.
- Donation made in the wrong fund where the donor wishes to move the funds — in such cases SGAA can re-classify the donation internally where possible, but will not reverse and re-collect the payment.
- Disputes about how SGAA spends funds within the chosen fund's stated purpose.
3. How to request a refund
Email donations@stgermainalumni.com within 15 days of the transaction with:
- Donor name and the email address used at donation time
- The transaction reference (txnid) and / or receipt number
- Date and amount of the donation
- A brief reason for the refund request
- Where applicable, a screenshot or statement showing the duplicate or incorrect debit
4. Processing time
Approved refunds are processed back to the original payment instrument within 5–10 working days of approval. The actual credit may take additional time depending on your card issuer or bank. Refunds cannot be processed to a different account or instrument.
5. 80G implications of a refund
If a refund is processed against a donation for which an 80G receipt has already been issued, the receipt stands cancelled and must not be used for tax-deduction claims. SGAA will issue a written cancellation notice on request, and the corresponding entry in our annual statement of donations (Form 10BD) filed with the Income Tax Department will reflect the cancellation.
6. Cancellation
You may cancel a payment in progress at any point before the payment gateway confirms the transaction, simply by closing the gateway window. No charge will be made. Once the gateway confirms the transaction, the refund process above applies.
